Our Planet

From our very first collection of bags we have always considered kindness to the environment.  While it remains a constant challenge to be 100% sustainable, our brands mission is to continually strive to improve our eco credentials by reducing waste and championing both reusable and recycled materials for both product and packaging.  In 2018 we introduced a water based, PVC free finish to all our coated cotton bags. We use only BCI and organic cotton and our lining is a recycled polyester / BCI cotton blend. We endeavour to use all our leftover materials so our waste is minimal. We have a no plastic policy but when essential, and in exceptional cases, we make sure it is biodegradable. This is an ongoing project and one we are committed to.

 For us, our priority is always to design products we love, and that last.  Bags and homewares that are loved and cherished is a driving force and essential to our process. At the same time we also appreciate that many of our products enjoy a second life in a busy marketplace activated through various preloved online communities dedicated to Orla Kiely.  Here they swap and resell, helping each other to track down their favourite archive pieces no longer in production.  To me, this is a testament to what I always hoped would be, a timeless style and enduring quality of our bags and homeware in that they were never designed to be throwaway!
